Title IV-E Grant Lecturer and Administrative Officer

Fort Valley State University and the College of Arts and Sciences invite applications for a grant-funded, full-time, Title IV-E Grant Lecturer & Administrative Officer position in the Social Work Program. Teaching, marketing and providing oversight for the Title IVE program in the undergraduate social work program will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to conduct program evaluation and work collaboratively with colleagues and students in a creative inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach the SWK 4080 Social Work with Children & Families and/or SW 4399 Field Experience Seminar courses.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with GA Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) personnel regarding Title IVE program requirements, agreements, field placements, reports and students.
  • Schedules and/or attends the Title IV-E meetings on behalf of the program
  • Use effective marketing and communication efforts to recruit, interview and orient students.
  • Assist students and Field Instructors in developing appropriate Learning Contracts.
  • Act as a resource for students and Field Instructors regarding the integration of theoretical and experiential based learning and supervision of students.
  • Monitor DCFS student placements by making the required site visits, follow up contacts (phone, email) or additional contacts as needed.
  • Provide field instruction to students in sites without a licensed social worker.
  • Assess students' knowledge, practice behaviors, competency level, and appropriateness in field placements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Principal Investigator to manage stipend application, interview, award, and recoupment processes, as per grant contract guidelines.
  • Participate in child welfare related task force meetings and trainings.
  • Work collaboratively with field experience faculty to mediate any issues that arise with students or agencies to include the reporting of difficulty with field experience or problems with professional misconduct, sexual harassment, safety, or ethical violations.
  • Evaluate student's progress and recommend grades for field placement.
  • Monitor, assess, and maintain records related to students' field placements and Title-IVE program.
  • Participate in student review meetings and establish student development plans.
  • Provide data and outcome reports for students involved in Title IVE traineeship program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • MSW from an accredited social work program w/ a minimum of 2 years practice experience
  • Familiarity with DCFS, CSWE Standards and the accreditation process
  • Evidence of teaching excellence
  • An eagerness to engage with colleagues, staff and administrators to develop ways to improve the educational experience of students
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated capacity and interest for collaborative teaching
  • Experience working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Current knowledge of academic assessment practices
