Job Summary

 

The Office of Admissions and Recruitment at Fort Valley State University is seeking a Regional Enrollment Coordinator who will each work in the Atlanta Metropolitan area, as well as parts of North Carolina and South Carolina.  The Regional Enrollment Coordinator will work with FVSU's admissions and recruitment leadership to plan and execute undergraduate recruitment strategies for students who living in the targeted areas.

 

As a member of the Enrollment Management Team, the  Regional Enrollment Coordinator  is responsible for the recruitment and admission of future students to the University through marketing the academic programs to students from high schools, technical schools, or career services programs and other colleges and universities through presentations, personal visits, telephone and e-mail communication. The Regional Enrollment Coordinator will also participate in recruitment activities on campus including but not limited to: personal interviews and tours, Open House, Orientation Sessions, and may represent the University at various other campus and community functions as assigned.  In additional, this position should be knowledgeable of financial aid policies and procedures in order to assist potential students and their families navigate that process.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The primary job duties and responsibilities consist of:

 

  • Serve as the primary field representative through a range of recruitment activities and benchmarks for the purpose of increasing applications and enrollment from a designated geographic region based in the Atlanta Metropolitan area, as well as parts of North Carolina and South Carolina.
  • Build, manage and maintain a designated recruitment territory and strategic plan with the Assistant Director of Recruitment and the Executive Director of Admissions and Recruitment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and respond to questions and inquiries from prospective students through various channels (e.g. individual appointments, telephone, email and social networking.)
  • Nurture relationships, through various communication channels, with students, parents, high school counselors, teachers, and administrators providing admissions advice and counsel relative to the recruitment and admissions processes.
  • Maintain a travel schedule and represent undergraduate admissions at various recruitment events, high school visits, and yield activities throughout the designated region.
  • Maintain regular communication with on campus leadership, which include recruitment staff, Assistant Director of Recruitment, Executive Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Enrollment Systems Analysis (for data purposes), and at times the VP for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
  • Arrange and complete campus appointments with prospective students by coordinating schedules and logging appointments.
  • Regularly present admissions and recruitment information.
  • Project management for events such as student receptions, counselor and alumni events.
  • Regularly interface with campus departments and external community groups and organizations to promote and support the University's overall recruitment efforts.
  • Host and assist in the coordination of on-campus programs for prospective students.
  • Represent the University during on-campus events to provide information about available offerings, including but not limited to academic programs, resources, opportunities, facilities, etc.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and make recommendations for program changes and enhancements.
  • Compile, assess and interpret student data, event outcomes, recruitment trends, market area trends and regularly report findings to senior leadership.
  • Proactively address the needs of the regional territory.
  • Attend major FVSU campus programs, events, and training.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in student advising, admissions and/or FVSU undergraduate campus involvement or leadership.
  • Excellent customer service, attention to detail, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Be self-motivated and results/goal driven with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and disseminate significant student prospect information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Experience working with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and other digital communication tools preferred.
  • Public speaking experience and organization skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and sensitivity to working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems, prioritize time according to tasks, initiate and implement projects independently.
  • Ability and willingness to perform evening, overnight and weekend work is required.
  • Previous work experience or academic study in, or connected to, the designated region or territory preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 90 % of the time over designated recruitment territory required.  Some overnight travel may be required.

 

Working conditions

 

  • September through May is the peak recruiting period; during this period, extensive travel and school visits will be required.
  • May be required to work beyond regular work hours (evenings and weekends) as defined by the needs of the department.

 

Physical requirements

  • Perform repetitive tasks; sit and drive for extended periods of time and maintain the normal range of body motion.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and assemble/disassemble display materials.
