Recruiter / Admissions Counselor
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the recruitment and admission of future students to the University through in-person and virtual presentations, community events, telephone and e-mail communication.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Attend in-person and virtual recruitment events to represent the university in Georgia as well as parts of Florida and other areas across the US. (50%)
- Nurture relationships, through various communication channels, with students, parents, high school
counselors, teachers, and administrators providing admissions advice and counsel relative to the recruitment and admissions processes. (25%) - Execute email and phone call campaigns to follow up with prospective students (10%)
- Build, manage and maintain a designated recruitment territory and strategic plan with the Executive Director of Admissions and Recruitment. (10%)
- Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and make recommendations for program changes and enhancements. (5%)
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Familiarity with higher education operations.
- Spanish fluency is a plus, but not required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and disseminate significant student prospect information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems, prioritize time according to tasks, initiate and implement projects independently.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Excellent customer service, attention to detail, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Working knowledge of CRM systems
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:
The Associate Director of Admissions Marketing controls and assigns work for this position as needed.
GUIDELINES:
Guidelines include the University System of Georgia Academic and Student Affairs Handbook, the Board of Regents Policy Manual, the FVSU academic catalog, and Admissions Office policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application. This position develops department guidelines.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK:
- The work consists of varied duties in directing the university's admissions functions. The variety of tasks to be managed contributes to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to market the university to prospective students living in metro Atlanta and other important territories. Success in this position contributes to the success of university enrollment goals.
CONTACTS:
- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university employees, students, applicants, parents, high school counselors, representatives of other colleges and universities, and members of the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to justify, defend or settle matters.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work is typically performed in an office.
- The work typically requires driving for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and assemble/disassemble display materials.
- September through May is the peak recruiting period; during this period, extensive travel and school visits will be required.
- May be required to work beyond regular work hours (evenings and weekends) as defined by the needs of the department.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY:
None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field required
- Two years of professional experience in student advising, admissions, or demonstrated experience as a previous student leader on a college campus.
- Documented history of successfully driving projects to completion.
- Ability to travel up to 70% of the time over designated recruitment territory required. Some overnight travel may be required. Must report to FVSU campus at least two days each month.
