Pre-Awards Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY
This position coordinates pre-awards activities for the Office of Sponsored Programs.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Identifies and disseminates public and private funding opportunities to faculty and staff.
- Conducts pre-proposal submission consultations with proposal writers.
- Assists faculty with proposal development.
- Reviews and proofreads proposals for completeness and compliance with funding requirements.
- Facilitates the routing of proposals for university approval.
- Inputs data into the grant management system.
- Plans and implements training conferences.
- Develops training materials and delivers training.
- Remains informed of federal and non-federal grant requirements.
- Recommends changes to internal policies and procedures.
- Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of federal and non-federal grant requirements.
- Knowledge of funding sources.
- Knowledge of internal control procedures.
- Knowledge of university and Board of Regents policies and procedures.
- Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Director of Sponsored Programs assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance for all federal agencies, State of Georgia business practices manuals, Title III policies and procedures, and university and Board of Regents policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of varied duties in support of office pre-award activities. Tight deadlines and strict guidelines contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to coordinate pre-awards activities. Success in this position contributes to the successful receipt of grants and awards.
CONTACTS
- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university employees, representatives of granting agencies, and representatives of the Board of Regents.
- Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, or to resolve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.
- More than two years of related experience required.
