FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Network Support Specialist.
Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. JOB SUMMARY:
The Network Support Specialist will ensure the stable operation of the enterprise computer network and implement and/or facilitate the initiatives of Chief Information Officer
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimize all network hardware, software and communication links
- Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs
- Develop, implement, and maintain the policies and procedures for network resource administration and disaster recovery
- Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
- Implement other job duties as directed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or closely related field; equivalent training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICCATIONS
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
- Network +
- Certification in CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
- Cisco Networking experience.
- Higher Education Experience
