Human Resources Consultant - Office of Human Resources

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, is seeking candidates for the Human Resources Consultant position in the Office of Human Resources.

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.


JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees and manages Human Resources (HR) activities, such as classification, recruitment, benefits, staff development and training, records management, employee relations, affirmative action, and performance evaluations.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advises supervisors and managers on personnel related issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate and implement HR related policies, processes and procedures.
  • Coordinates and participates in the recruitment activities of staff and/or faculty.
  • Manages the electronic Personnel Action Notice (PAN) process.
  • Develop and coordinate employee wellness initiatives.
  • Coordinates benefits related actions, TAP, FMLA, ADA, retirement, worker's compensation, etc.
  • Manages the annual performance review process and procedures for staff and faculty.
  • Reviews and coordinates requests for reclassifications and/or compensation adjustments.
  • Assists with maintenance of departmental HR records.
  • Develops and coordinates employee development and training activities.
  • Provides administrative support, such as monitoring the workflow, preparing and coordinating HR documentation.
  • Manage and monitor HR e-forms and email communication notification.
  • Review, analyze and provide frequent HR data reporting.
  • Assists in special projects and performs other HR related activities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of office policies and procedures, basic computer operations and software.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
  • Knowledge of HR procedures, policies, and activities.
  • Effective time management, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and verbal communication with external and internal customers.
  • Ability to multi-task, supervise, train staff, and pay attention to detail.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
