Job Summary
Fort Valley State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the position of Head Football Coach.
The head football coach position is a full-time, 12-month staff position which reports to the Director of Athletics. The position will be reevaluated annually to determine continuation of employment. The head coach is responsible for all aspects of the football program, to include: creating and communicating the vision of a program seeking to reach unprecedented levels of success, attracting and retaining a highly supportive staff for assistance with implementation of the program vision, successfully organizing and implementing a comprehensive recruiting and retention plan, integrating the program into the campus community, developing a vibrant summer camp program, supervising practice and managing games, management of program budget, and supporting student-athlete success in all areas of the student experience. Develop overall program philosophy; serve as a specific position group coach; oversee offensive, defensive and special team's coordinators; provide recruiting goals and structures to the recruiting coordinator and assist in the execution of the recruiting plan; engage with greater campus community constituents for work related to College committees, alumni connections, diversity and inclusion and facility management.
The head coach will embrace the responsibility of being a transformational leader invested in building a program respected for its commitment to the mission and core values of Fort Valley State University, while representing the program in accordance with SIAC, NCAA and institutional rules and regulations. Additional duties may include administrative roles, campus committee involvement and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree preferred with five years of progressive college coaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
College experience at the coordinator or head coach level; demonstrated ability to recruit to institutional goals; proven record of successful coaching with substantiated metrics; five plus years of experience as college football coach; demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion; the ability to effectively recognize and communicate the values of athletics at a NCAA Division II institution.
