Graduate Admission Recruiter and Counselor

Job Summary:

This position is focused on the recruitment and yield of full and part-time graduate students. Results-oriented, energetic Graduate School Admissions Counselor will work in a fast-paced environment with effective decision-making skills and customer service experience. Graduate Admissions Counselor will recruit and assist prospective students by assessing their skills and interests and guiding them through the enrollment process. This position requires creativity, a high level of interpersonal communication skills, and strong computer and telephone skills. Flexible and adaptable to changing environments.

This is a full-time position that requires time flexibility and will include day, evening, night and weekend availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promptly responds to student inquiries regarding the University and our program offerings.
  • Follow-up with prospective students/applicants and record results in the database to ensure excellent customer service throughout the enrollment process.
  • Carries out the recruitment and enrollment strategies for graduate students.
  • Coordinates marketing efforts of the graduate admission program including, but not limited to developing and curating content targeted at communicating FVSU's brand message and value proposition to prospective and current students via web, social media, and other multimedia platforms.
  • Participates in on and off-campus recruitment events.
  • Processes graduate admission applications.
  • Serves in the capacity of DSO (designated school official) and provides support and services to international students.
  • Execute communication plans for graduate programs including, but not limited to, telephone outreach, email, and direct mail to prospective and current students.
  • Maintains a collaborative relationship with relevant campus units, including program coordinators for the respective graduate programs, and the Graduate Council
  • Collaborates with college and program faculty to ensure processes and standards are maintained.
  • Maintains recruiting database and follow up tracking system.
  • Provides daily, weekly, monthly, and other reports as requested.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Reviews and evaluates applications and transcripts for compliance with academic standards established by the Graduate program and recommends admissibility within those criteria
  • Processes, edits, and distributes acceptance and denial letters and notifies academic departments of action taken.
  • Responds to written, telephone, and personal inquiries for information regarding graduate admission policies, regulations, procedures, and deadlines.
  • Provides information to and assists departmental admissions committees regarding policies, regulations, procedures, and criteria governing graduate school admission.
  • Revises and edits graduate application forms in cooperation with departmental admissions committees and graduate program.
  • Assists in monitoring and ensuring compliance with graduate admission policies, procedures and deadlines.
  • Stays informed regarding changes in policies, procedures, and criteria governing graduate program admission.
  • Stays informed regarding changes in policies, procedures, and criteria governing graduate admission at USG level.
  • Accountable for day-to-day operations of the Graduate Admissions Office
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of related experience required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Experience with providing international student services and processing visas.
  • Familiarity with graduate admissions, academic and financial aid requirements.
  • Ability to work beyond regular work hours (evenings and weekends) as defined by department needs.
  • Ability to travel periodically during peak recruiting season (September through May), which may include overnight travel (approx. 30%).
