Job Summary
The Director Compliance/Senior Women's Administrator assists the Director of Athletics with oversight of all aspects of NCAA Division II competition programs to achieve the parallel goals of development of quality, competitive athletic teams and support of the individual educational goals of student-athletes. The Director for Compliance/Senior Women's Administrator serves as the second level of leadership within the department and serves in the place of the athletic director in his/her absence. He/She directs the operations of the athletics department in NCAA and SIAC conference compliance, academic services, public safety, community service and facilities as well as provides assistance with all fundraising efforts.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develops a comprehensive compliance program including rules education, student-athlete eligibility, and NCAA rules monitoring.
- Provides leadership in the area of student recruitment and ensures compliance with NCAA rules.
- Assists with development of education for student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and alumni concerning rules interpretation and limitations and overall individual compliance responsibility.
- Develops and revises the compliance manual and student-athlete handbook as necessary, as well as schedules coaches' certification tests.
- Monitors student-athletes' eligibility and satisfactory progress towards degree.
- Investigates potential secondary rules violations, researching penalties levied in similar cases, and submits infraction reports to the NCAA and conference.
- Reviews compliance documents to ensure accuracy and audits and approves records.
- Manages individual sports and teams on a rotating basis with the Director of Athletics. Includes development of athletic contests and schedules that support established goals, budgets, and available facilities as well as direct supervision of coaches.
- Prepares reports including NCAA, graduation rate, and academic success, as well as squad lists and records.
- Works with the Director of Athletics to develop the budget. Provide student aid information to the Financial Aid director and serves as a liaison between athletics and financial aid. Reviews schedules to determine out of state travel needs and ensures compliance with budget guidelines.
- Assists the Director of Athletics with fundraising by planning, coordinating, and supervising events and promotion activities including golf tournaments and alumni athletic week.
- Serves in the absence of the Athletics Director.
- Serves as the Title IX Deputy Coordinator with oversight of gender equity issues within Athletics.
- Serves on the university scholarship and registration committees. Serves as on-site administrator for home competitions as well as NCAA drug testing. Coordinates Athletics banquet, convocation and special events and programs in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of experience in intercollegiate athletics administration. Experience managing NCAA compliance required. Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational, and human relations skills required. Excellent computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications are required. Must successfully complete background investigation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have the ability to work with a wide variety of constituencies. Knowledge of NCAA policies, rules and guidelines. Must provide strict adherence to NCAA, university, and athletics department rules and regulations.
Working Conditions:
Operates in a variety of conditions, in a climate controlled office and gymnasium, training rooms and outdoor ball field environment. Evening and weekend hours as well as travel are required.
