Data Management Specialist

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Research Associate, this position is responsible for providing support and managing institutional data activities, compiling informative reports to support the efforts of strategic planning, budgeting, marketing, assessment and academic program development, preparing reports for internal use, federal and state agencies and responding to surveys from various agencies. This position assists with designing and implementing institutional assessment studies and reports, maintaining and updating institutional repository for accreditation-related materials, preparing and automating institutional surveys, writing SQL scripts to prepare reports, and assisting in the development of specialized studies that evaluate effectiveness and accountability throughout all facets of the University.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides support and manages data management activities
  • Compiles informative reports to support the efforts of strategic planning, budgeting, marketing, assessment and academic program development
  • Prepares reports for internal use, federal and state agencies and responds to surveys from various agencies
  • Assists with designing and implementing institutional assessment studies and reports
  • Maintains and updates institutional repository for accreditation-related materials
  • Prepares and automates institutional surveys
  • Writes scripts using the Banner system to prepare data reports, program review and planning
  • Assists in the development of specialized studies that evaluate effectiveness and accountability throughout all facets of the University
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • Knowledge of specific computer software packages, programming languages and operation systems including BANNER, Oracle, SQL, SPSS, HTML, PEARL and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of data management, including definitions, mapping, usage and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate reports using research design software, conducting oral presentations, and using collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Strong preference will be afforded applicants with prior experience in institutional research or outcomes assessment in higher education, and familiarity with the SACS and NCATE accreditation processes

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
