Clinical Coordinator

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Clinical Coordinator.

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for clinical coordination, data management, and reporting for the field experience in the Department of Counseling. This position will include, but is not limited to, the oversight of clinical placements, records, and course requirements. The Clinical Coordinator liaises between the students, faculty, site supervisors, and their clinical sites.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responds to students, site supervisors, and potential sites inquiries regarding practicum and internship.
  • Works with the department in course development of all field experiences.
  • Ensures students have all required documentation (i.e., application, liability insurance, resume) prior to starting the field experience.
  • Ensures the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and agreements are approved by the legal department and signed by all appropriate designees.
  • Ensure the collection and maintenance of all logs and evaluations from faculty supervisors at the end of each semester.
  • Collaborates with faculty supervisors to evaluate students' clinical skills and dispositions.
  • Ensures practicums and internships comply with CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) Standards and ACA Code of Ethics.
  • Compiles data for the Assessment and Evaluation Coordinator and work in collaboration to ensure accuracy of files and data.
  • Ensures all department policies and procedures are met by the student, faculty supervisors, and site supervisors.
  • Facilitate Field Experience Orientation.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Department Chair/College Dean.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned a minimum of a master's degree in counseling or a related field.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a faculty supervisor teaching a practicum and/or internship course in a master's level counseling program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience providing counseling in a clinical setting.
  • Membership in a professional association tied to the counseling profession.
  • Current state licensing/certification required as an LPC or CRC. A certification in School Counseling is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of the CACREP accreditation process.
