Job Summary

 

The role of the Classroom AV Tech II is to provide hands on assistance to the Classroom Technology Support team in assisting faculty, staff and students in carrying out the academic, business and co-curricular goals of the college through the Innovative use of technology.  The successful candidate will report to Manager Technology Support Services area which is a unit under the Office of Information Technology.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provides for daily classroom AV operation with primary focus on maintaining up time and rapid response to outages.
  • Responds promptly to calls, walk-in and helpdesk requests.
  • Supports campus events.
  • Evaluates AV equipment and performs AV support and installation.
  • Provides recommendations and guidance on AV direction
  • Providing training and guidance for faculty, staff and students.
  • Assists with event support & video productions, up to and including Commencements.
  • Support evening and weekend classes and events.
  • Attends training and industry events to maintain and upgrade skills and professional development.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of full-time experience showing involvement in AV projects of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Experience troubleshooting, operating and maintaining Educational Technology including Video Projectors, lecture capturing systems, control systems, video conferencing, sound systems.
  •  Knowledge of PC's and Mac's.

 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certifications in Crestron AV equipment
  • Experience working with end users and training on technology solutions, especially Crestron A/V

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of diverse AV/IT professionals, clients, and partners.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills are required. Including the ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.

  • Climate controlled environment

 

Physical requirements

 

  • Position may require local travel. 
  • The Ability to lift and carry files and materials.
  • Ability to move from one office to another office on campus.
  • Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing.
  • Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to utilize a ladder to troubleshoot ceiling mounted AV Equipment
