Assistant/Associate Professor of Veterinary Science
Summary:
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Veterinary Science is a full time, 10-month, tenure- track position.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide didactic and clinical instruction in radiology, laboratory and biomedical procedures, large and small animal diseases in the Veterinary Technology programs
- Provide veterinary care for in-house animals
- Participate in student recruitment activities
- Participate in research and extension activities
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent analytical, oral, written communication skills and team work
- Demonstrated success in research and scholarly activities
- Demonstrated ability to work with traditional and nontraditional students
- Proven ability to mentor and coach students
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Georgia
- Three (3) years experience in small animal practice
- Working knowledge of veterinary hospital software Preference will also be given to those with international teaching experience in the veterinary field to include colleges of veterinary medicine.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in large animal, molecular laboratory and teaching, a post-DVM degree and potential for research and grantsmanship. Preference will also be given to those with international teaching experience in the veterinary field to include colleges of veterinary medicine.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to teach in the evenings as well as during the day. Work hours may vary. Note: This is a non-exhaustive list.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear; lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.
- Frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Occasionally lift 50+ pounds overhead and 40+ pounds from waist to shoulder
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distant color visions, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate
