Assistant Coach - Women's Basketball
FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach - Women's Basketball in the Athletics Department.
Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Coach - Women's Basketball at FVSU, an NCAA Division II institution in the SIAC, is a highly responsible and demanding position. All members of the Athletic Staff are expected to be team players supporting each other while promoting the mission of the University, supporting the philosophy of the Athletic Department, and assuring the well-being of all student-athletes.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and perform duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
- On-court instruction during practices and games.
- Recruiting student athletes.
- Active involvement in community service activities.
- Assure the academic success of the student-athletes.
- Responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of the women's locker room within the HPE.
- Responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of all basketball equipment.
- Scout reports
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- College, graduate assistant or high school coaching experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and management ability.
- Strong work ethic with a team player's positive attitude.
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to work collaboratively with departmental and university personnel and administration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience coaching at the collegiate level
- Experience recruiting student athletes
